Instrument Setup
Have You Been Set Up?
In this case, being "setup" is a good thing! It involves having us perform a few small but important adjustments to bring your fretted instrument back to factory playing specs, and usually, even better! There are several reaaons why your fretted instrument might need a setup:
- Seasonal changes that affect the humidity level of your instrument
- Heavier or lighter string gauges installed, making your instrument harder to play, or perhaps the strings are buzzing on the frets
- Heavy use, heavy travel, or improper storage
- Even under ideal care situations, the passage of time can change an instrument
At GuitarSam, we can make your electric or acoustic guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, ukulele etc, play like a dream again and sound better than ever. The adjusments necessary will vary from instrument to instrument. Some of the possible adjustments may include:
- Neck adjustment (truss rod)
- Install new nut, repair old nut, or reslot the string slots
- Check, tighten, repair or replace tuning gears
- Clean fingerboard, polish frets, fret dressing
- Check electronics, clean potentiometers and switches, check output jack
- Adjust saddles (on electric) for intonation and action
- Shim or un-shim saddle (on acoustic) to raise or lower action
- Adjust tremolo arm (if applicable)
- And many other potential adjustments...
