From the beginning.....GuitarSam
(originally called Play It Again Sam) opened March 4, 1981 in Montpelier,
VT, which is the smallest capitol city in the United States, and the
only state capitol without a McDonalds. We started out in 360 square
feet of retail space, and four years later moved into 750 square feet.
Eighteen months after that we knocked out a wall leading to an adjacent
store and doubled our showroom area, and also added additional space
for warehousing. (We performed this project at night so our landlord
wouldn't suspect anything) Today we enjoy about 2000 square feet of
retail, repair, and office space.
What we do.....GuitarSam
sells acoustic guitars, electric guitars, basses, banjos, mandolins, dulcimers,
ukuleles, harmonicas, cases and gig bags, amplifiers, effects pedals,
rack effects, mixers, powered mixers, PA speakers, monitors, drums, cymbals,
hand percussion, music books, videos, strings, drumsticks, drumheads,
straps, cleaning accessories, microphones, wireless mikes and transmitters,
and lots of other musical stuff. We're open seven days a week, and closed
on the big holidays. Everyone that works here is, was, or thinks they
are a musician.
What we sell.....Here's
a partial list of the lines that we carry. Some of these products are
available only to walk-in customers, due to our dealer agreements with
the manufacturer. Whenever possible, you should shop in your own region
for the best hands-on selection and one-on-one service.

Special Services.....Special
services include the repair and maintenance of stringed instruments,
amplifiers and other electronic equipment, plus brass and woodwind instruments.
We also offer layaways and trade-ins. GuitarSam's friendly and professional
sales and service staff can help you with your musical needs!
Our
share of natural disaster.....On
March 11, 1992, Montpelier was devastated with a mighty flood that brought
the Winooski River through
our entire downtown. Montpelier was declared a disaster area, and officials
from all across the country came to observe and agree that we had a water
problem. GuitarSam was under water for about 20 hours, but we got to be
on TV a couple of times, demonstrating the proper way to empty water from
an acoustic guitar. We had a tremendous outpouring (get
it?) of volunteer assistance from
our friends, family, and customers who all insisted that we must find
a way to start again. Many people sacrificed their normal life for several
days to show up with equipment, expertise, stamina and love. Only with
their assistance were we able to see through the muck and move forward.
After our liquidation (get it?)
sale, we paid off all of our bills, scraped the rest of the mud off the
floor, and realized that we then had no inventory and no money, which
put us in the same position as 75% of all small businesses in America.
So we figured, let's go get our feet wet again. Here we are, dryer and
better.

How to Find GuitarSam.com
From anywhere in Vermont, locate
and get on Interstate 89. Montpelier is in the Central Region of the
state, so you need to determine whether you must travel north or south.
- From I-89, take Exit 8.
- Turn left at the 4th traffic
light, onto Main St.
- At the next traffic light (corner
of Main St. and State St.) we are in the City Center mini-mall, ahead
and to your right. Park anywhere downtown and feed the meter.
