Kepasa Comet Tenor- This is the newly updated version of my handmade Kepasa Comet hybrid ukulele. Unlike a standard acoustic instrument with bent sides and braced back, this ukulele has a body that starts as a solid chunk of wood and is fully routed out to about 3/8" thick walls for the back and sides. The Sitka spruce top is constructed the same as a standard acoustic ukulele. It's a very thin body, measuring at just 1.75" deep, but the very stiff back and sides allow all of the resonant energy created while playing to remain pulsing in the soundboard. This allows such a thin-bodied instrument to offer a much fuller and louder voice than you would anticipate.
The body is spalted alder and has black binding on top and soundhole. Spanish cedar neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, dot inlays on fingerboard. The soundhole sports the ever-popular D-shaped gypsy jazz soundhole. Seymour Duncan DTAR Soundspot internal pickup (passive pickup, no battery required) and 1/4" input/endpin on the tail. Includes heavy padded gig bag.
Sounds great acoustically and plugged in, smooth playing, strung with D'Addario Nyltech strings.
