Comet Tenor- This is the newly updated version of my Kepasa Comet hybrid ukulele. Unlike a standard acoustic instrument with bent sides and braced back, this ukulele has a body that starts as a solid chunk of wood and is fully routed out to about 3/8" thick walls for the back and sides. The top is constructed the same as a standard acoustic ukulele. It's a very thin body, measuring at just 1.75" deep, but the very stiff back and sides allow all of the resonant energy created while playing to remain pulsing in the soundboard. This allows such a thin-bodied instrument to offer a much fuller and louder voice than you would anticipate.
Typical wood selections for this model are in the same family as a solid body electric guitar, such as alder, ash, mahogany (upcharge for mahogany). Includes plastic binding on top and soundhole, There is typically no binding on the back of this ukulele, but it could be implemented if wished at an added cost. Spanish cedar neck, rosewood or ebony fingerboard and bridge, dot inlays on fingerboard. The original Comet ukulele was built with double puka soundholes, which I can still offer, but my current version sports the ever-popular D-shaped gypsy jazz soundhole. The Comet can also be built with a concert scale neck (same body size on both). Comes standard with DTAR Soundspot internal pickup and 1/4" input/endpin on the tail. Includes heavy padded gig bag.
